Did you know that unused medication left in the home can contribute to drug abuse? Friends or family can steal those medications to feed their addictions. Did you know if you don’t properly dispose of your unused or expired medication that they can affect our ground water and waterways? Flushing or trashing medications can contaminate our environment. For this reason, Operation Medicine Cabinet Pinellas County was established to properly dispose of medications.

On October 29th from 10 AM – 2 PM, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Live Free! Substance Abuse Prevention and Coalition of Pinellas County is conducting Operation Medicine Cabinet Pinellas County. They will have 15 drop off locations available across Pinellas County. Bring your prescription medications and hand them over to them. They’ll take care of the rest! If you can remove the pills from their bottles and place into a plastic bag, it helps them out but is not required.
